Terms and conditions

Last updated: September 4, 2026

The short version

These are the terms under which we make EditPdfMetaData available. The tools are free, they run entirely in your web browser, and your files never leave your device. There is nothing to sign up for, nothing to pay, and no relationship beyond you using the pages on this site. By using the tools, you agree to the terms below.

What we provide

EditPdfMetaData is a set of browser-based tools for viewing, editing, and removing the metadata inside PDF files. Each tool is a static web page with JavaScript: when you open a document, it is read into your browser's memory with the standard File API, processed locally, and handed back to you as a download.

You may use the tools for any lawful purpose, in personal or commercial settings, without restriction on the number of documents you process. No account, payment, or personal information is required.

Your files are never uploaded

There is no upload endpoint on this site and no server component that could receive your documents. Nothing you open in the tools is transmitted, stored, or seen by us. The privacy policydescribes the small amount of data that does travel — standard request logs from hosting — which relates to page loads only, never to your files.

Your responsibilities

You are responsible for the documents you choose to process and for checking the results. Verify each downloaded file before you distribute, publish, or archive it — particularly when you have used the removal tool, which deletes all metadata in one action and cannot be undone.

You agree not to use the tools to infringe the rights of others, violate applicable law, or attempt to disrupt or reverse-engineer the site. You retain all rights in the documents you process; we make no claim to them.

No warranty

The tools are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the tools will always be available, that every document will be processed correctly, or that metadata removal or editing will satisfy any particular legal, regulatory, or professional requirement.

Metadata removal cleans the metadata layer of a file. It is not a guarantee that a document is anonymous — embedded images, signatures, and content on the page itself can still identify its origin. It remains your responsibility to review the document and the results.

Limitation of liability

The tools are free. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages — including loss of data, loss of profits, or interruption of business — arising from your use of, or inability to use, this site or its tools. Because nothing is paid, nothing is owed.

Changes to the service and these terms

We may add, change, or remove tools and features, and we may update these terms to reflect those changes. The "last updated" date above changes with every revision. Continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised terms; material changes will be prominent enough that you can hardly miss them.
